MOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open reading frame of the 12S rRNA-c) is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded in the 12S ribosomal RNA gene of the mitochondrial genome. First characterised in 2015, it is studied for its role in metabolic regulation, insulin sensitivity, exercise physiology, and ageing. Published research has described MOTS-C as acting as a mitohormone — a signal transmitted from the mitochondria to the nucleus in response to metabolic stress.
Add 2 mL bacteriostatic water for 5,000 mcg/mL. MOTS-C dissolves readily at room temperature.
